Congratulations to Nick Swartzendruber from California who has won the January 2020 PFRE Videographer of the Month Contest! Here is Nick's winning video.

Nick has been consistently raising the bar of real estate cinematography over the past few years and this video is no exception. You can see more of Nick's work at Drone Cowboys.

Here are the top three videos that the jury awarded points to this month:

  1. Nick Swartzendruber #10
  2. Jeff Griggs #1
  3. Amir Neshati #9

I had 13 entries this month (the most ever) so I would like to thank everyone who participated, and the jurors for taking time out of their busy schedules to vote and offer feedback.

Here's what Nick had to say about the win:

No way! This is great!

I knew that the client was going to bring horses as well as wanting her children in the film. So while scouting, I came up with a few small stories that would invoke emotion while still being informative enough to show the property. It actually came out better than anticipated due to the fact that post production helps me develop the story in its entirety.

The gear used for this shoot was Black Magic Cinema 4K, GH5, an assortment of Canon lenses, Mavic 2 Pro, and Inspire 2. Total time on site: 8 hours. Post production: 8 hours.

What I've learned from this shoot is to film more than you need and try to develop small stories within the final edit!

It’s an honor to have won this month's contest! Thank you!

  1. Brilliant. 10/10 I think using talent (unpaid or not) can take away from these types of videos as you are showing other people in the prospective customers home but I didn't feel that here. It added to interest and help tell the story. Clearly the technical side of the video is incredibly good also.

  2. Congrats, Nick!!!!.....Always enjoy watching your videos and how your moves, lighting and angles trigger such positive and joyful emotions. Learning a lot from you and the other peeps who entered. Now on a friendly note, why can't you have an easy last name like Neshati or something 😉

  3. Congratulations, Nick! I appreciate what you bring to the business as well as your openness in sharing and teaching others. You are a genuine nice guy 🙂 Congratulations to Jeff Griggs and Amir Neshati, as well.

I would also like to thank those who post their cc on the entries, both video and photography. Really helps to read and consider what we need to keep working on to improve our skills.
